Daniel is a second generation licensed Funeral Director and U.S. Army Reservist, following in his father's footsteps of military and funeral service. He served five tours in Iraq and Afghanistan after joining the U.S. Army six months after 9/11. He is currently a Sergeant First Class and is serving as the First Sergeant for the 318th Press Camp Headquarters in Forest Park, Illinois. Daniel is proud to have come from a long line of military service, dating back to the Civil War, starting with his Great-Great Grandfather, Private Daniel Rufus Symonds, who he is named after. His family has had a member serve in every major war since his Great-Great Grandfather. Daniel earned his associate's degree in mortuary science Chicago Citywide Mortuary School and earned his bachelor's degree in Television Production from Chicago's Columbia College.
Daniel joined the Madison Funeral Home family in December 2013, helping to honor veterans and non-veteran families. Daniel was raised in the Chicagoland and northern suburbs area. The greatest moment of Daniel's life--besides meeting Joy Yearout, his fiancée is the day he moved to Elgin to join the Madison Funeral Home family. He is a member of the Ilinois Funeral Directors Association (IFDA), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Legion Post 57 in Elgin and the Elgin Area Historical Society. Daniel's family owns funeral homes in the Chicago, Highwood, and Grayslake areas of Illinois. He is proud to be part of the Madison Funeral Home family, and looks forward to building upon its legacy of service to Elgin families since 1923.
Yerry is a licensed Funeral Director. He is a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, and a Charter member of the Funeral Ethics Association. Yerry is active in the Lion's Club and has served several Elgin-area non-profit charitable organizations. Yerry is married to Virginia and is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Sean is a licensed Funeral Director, and serves as Deputy Director of the Kane County Offices of Emergency Management. He is a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxilary and the Kane County Search and Rescue.
Val is a licensed Funeral Director and has served families for more than 45 years.
Joy is Director of Operations for Madison Funeral Home. She is engaged to Daniel Symonds, and currently resides in Michigan, where she is the Director of Communications for the Department of Attorney General for the State of Michigan. Joy has earned a bachelor's degree in International Relations from James Madison College at Michigan State University. She also holds a master's degree in Security Policy Studies from George Washington University. Joy plans to join the Elgin community and raise a family following her marriage to Daniel in January 2015.
Molly is an intern and recent graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. She is a licensed apprentice for Funeral Directing and Embalming. Molly has been a resident of Elmhurst for more than 20 years.
